Cycling On

I’ve always loved cycling, ever since my dad taught me to ride in Victoria Park when I was four.
With helmet to protect, I aim to cycle on and on, not to join the Tour De France, but to enjoy the ride!
I plan to make regular cycle logs on my jaunts, and will share them here.

Almost made it to Garelochhead today, and cycled near enough 12 miles. I am chuffed!!

Summer suns are glowing?? Not today!! Rain, hail, thunder and lightning is the order of the day.
My planned cycle to Garelochhead had to be abandoned, although I got as far as Clynder in my attempt.

Peaton Hill? Enough said!!

Today I made it on two wheels again. It was great to be on the road again discovering a completely new area. There are many cycle routes and paths in the Centre and outskirts of Hull. Most of them are very flat, so I hope to increase my distances daily unless it becomes too hot to cycle!!!

Cycling here there and everywhere-August 29th

After a month in Yorkshire, riding the cycle paths of Hull, I find myself fit enough to cycle better and further with relative ease. It feels good.
Hull is an excellent centre for cycling. Its routes are well planned and very well used by a variety of cyclists from the very young to the born-again. I’ve ridden many of them, and found my way round this interesting city during a spell of wonderful sunny weather.
I was delighted to help in a small way to encourage a new young cyclist to take to the paths. Emma is an absolute star and was cycling independently within two days of having her stabilisers removed. Hope to cycle with her again in the near future!

Back home, I picked up from where I left off and made it past my recent personal best cycle, to pedal to Garelochhead for a tea at Cafe Craft and cycle home again. A distance of 17.4 miles is probably the longest I’ve ever cycled in the last ten years. I cycled the same distance again today and have been racking up the miles over the course of this week.
I’m feeling so much better for the exercise and notice strength returning to my legs and some pounds being lost from my frame. Can’t be bad!
