Just spent a couple of hours in John Lewis catching up with my friend Helen’s news over a cup of tea or three and a few scones!
The media presence caused a little interest to those of us who were fortunate enough to have a seat by the window. Public Sector workers were being interviewed, and will no doubt feature on this evening’s news broadcast.Umbrellas were prevalent as microphones and cameras were engaged in the process.
People are rightly concerned about the scale of change on-going by this government of incompetence. Rather than force people to remain in work well beyond their pensionable age, they should focus attention on giving the young citizens of the future an opportunity to work and earn a living. Pensions have long been paid into by people in e public sector, their only way to ensure a reasonable standard of living in retirement. To remove that safeguard will condemn too many to poverty after years of service. Yes it is expensive, but payment has been made and service given, and no-one has the right to dishonour that agreement, especially not the posh boys who will never NEED a pension because of their silver-spoon heritage. They claim to ‘understand’ what it is like for ordinary folk. They can never ‘know’ and will never comprehend what the majority of the ‘public’ face in reality. They were ‘public’ schoolboys, but that’s as close to public as they have ever been!
It’s time to get real. It’s time to move left, and long overdue that this coalition of impotence is consigned to history. The posh boys have had too many days and need to be pensioned off. Will they still get their pension after leaving Westminster???
