A week in town or thereabouts!

By

This week has been busy, as weeks in town tend to be. We’ve been out and about each and every day(well almost) mostly by bus but once or twice by car. Visiting places, meeting people and walking have been highlights so far.

We’ve spent a lot of time on the net working through new ideas and keeping up with friends and family. Once again the net is proving to be an amazing source of information.

Two trips thus far to Paisley have brought us interesting photographs and one or two ‘must-haves’ in the MandS Outlet there. We may well make a further trip next week before our return home, just in case there are further items to tempt our shopaholic tendencies! And speaking of shopaholics- my cousin Sharon has now added a picture of herself on her Facebook profile. Love the picture and the blingy glove!!!

We headed for St. Andrews on Tuesday to escape the rain. We stopped off at Powmill for coffee and a cake then found the beach and walked for an hour or so, something that Dougal absolutely adored! We had our picnic in the car, much to the disgust of some hungry crows who looked set to join us inside if we dared to open a window, then we had a quiet forty winks before heading round the coast to Crail and Anstruther.

Crail is an absolute gem of a place. I remember taking my mum and Ev there for a holiday one summer, although I didn’t actually join them. What a missed opportunity! The village has magnificent walks along its rocky shoreline and an assortment of amazing gardens stretching down from on high to the shore below. The walkways are speckled with seats which are delightfully placed to admire the views out to May Island and beyond. I was astounded by the cleanliness of the place, and must congratulate the townsfolk and the Fife Council for their diligent attention to this particular detail. If only every Council in our beautiful country would take such care!!! I’m sure we’ll be back to explore this lovely place further in the future.
