THEN and NOW

April, almost the middle, already.
Where does time go, as we wander through our living? It flies at speed, leaving us struggling to keep up. When I was young, days were 48 hours long, so much was crammed into them, so much taken out, and yet, they seemed to go on and and on forever.
I don’t remember when the early picture above was taken, but my mum will. It looks as if I was in the back court at my gran’s in Drive Road, Linthouse. I can’t quite make out what is in my hands, but it may well be a cake of some kind. I loved the cakes that were bought in Linthouse at Cameron’s the bakers. We had one each after tea, along with a tattie lug or crumpet spread with butter.
The ‘now’ picture isn’t quite NOW. It was taken about three years ago when I had my new denture plate fitted and was able to show a nice smile instead of the ‘happy’ one I’d had for too many tears. Next week, another ‘gap’ will be filled as I have a bottom plate fitted and can once again show a gap-free smile!! The joys of ageing!!! White hair and losing teeth!!! Now I wonder if it has anything to do with the first picture and those cakes???!!!!???
