Calm after the storm

Yes that is blue sky overhead! After days of greyness, wildness and wetness, we’re being treated to a bit of sunshine and blue!
We’re taking the opportunity to get out after too many days imprisoned by wind and falling debris. A wee jaunt will raise our spirits, fuel the car, and make one or two necessary purchases.
A new toy has arrived, so when we return home, interest will be kindled in a bit of reading, and yours truly will get on with a bit of finger- picking!

As we made our way to the doctor’s this morning we were astounded at the amount of trees down along our half- mile driveway. No wonder we heard saws buzzing all day yesterday.
Today will be the time for the park staff to catch up on lesser problems such as overturned bunkers, broken branches and flying bins. They’ll have their work cut in trying to put the pieces back together, such has been the flight path and landing of so many pieces of debris. We’ve fared so much better than some, given the protection we have from hills around us. Hopefully all those without power will be re- connected today and can go about their lives with the comfort of a bit of warmth.
My thoughts are with the folks on islands who will have had no boats and no new provisions for many a long day. Their resourcefulness will have been stretched and there will be sighs of relief when the boat comes again and normal service can be resumed.
