Twice within 24 hours! It is a wonder that both churches are still standing after our visits!!
The candlelit service was almost a disaster, given that we had to hold the lit candles for over an hour. After the hot wax drip down our hands and onto our clothes, we eventually had to blow them out well before the church lights were put back on at the end of the service. Holding an order of service, a carol book, avoiding the woman in front’s hair AND keeping an eye on two teenagers is not easy especially in pews that don’t encourage sitting back!! The hour- long service seemed to be never- ending!! Needless to say we needed a bit of spiritual up-lifting when we got home!!

Today was totally different. We went to a local church to see Simone perform in her school nativity. It was delightful. The simple service was conducted entirely by the children. Their singing was a treat. No books to hold- a simple over- head screen with words projected made things easy for everyone. Away in a manger sung by youngsters is for me the best thing about Christmas!
No spirit to be uplifted after today’s event!
